Immigration Paralegal – New York, NY

 

Devendorf Law is looking for a smart, motivated and organized Immigration Paralegal to assist with preparation of nonimmigrant, immigrant and naturalization applications.  The ideal candidate is someone with excellent communication skills who enjoys writing as well as learning about different cultures and disciplines.  Responsibilities include:

 

• Working closely with attorneys on all aspects of case preparation for temporary and permanent visa petitions and applications.

• Perform case intake and work closely with attorneys to understand case strategies.

• Analyze case documents and prepare immigration forms for submission to the appropriate government agency.

• Participate in the drafting of petitions and highly specialized support letters detailing eligibility for different visa classifications and other immigration benefits.

• Communicate with clients and foreign nationals regarding procedural aspects of case processing and timelines.

• Prepare monthly status reports to listing active cases and tracking critical filing dates.

• Learn how to prioritize and streamline case preparation.

 

Requirements for this position include:

 

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or Business/Technical Writing preferred.

• Willingness to learn about immigrations laws, requirements and processes.

• Ability to handle high volume caseload, meet deadlines and maintain high level of productivity.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated attention to detail.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills within a fast-paced environment.

• Must be organization and able to handle confidential matters with discretion.

• Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
